These trips foster cultural exchange, personal growth, and deeper faith while spreading love and compassion. From assisting local churches to supporting underprivileged communities, mission trips are a way to live out one’s faith through action, reflecting God’s love in tangible ways.

When our partners host us for a short-term mission trip, our presence has a lasting effect. As a team, we have the power to build up and strengthen those we serve. However, we must also be mindful of the challenges we might unintentionally create.

How We Make a Positive Impact

Encouragement & Support – Lift up our hosts with kind words, thoughtful gifts, and acts of service.
Providing Resources – Offer valuable support in the form of people, materials, and skills to help further their mission.
Affirmation & Recognition – Show appreciation for their dedication by simply being present and acknowledging their work.
Deepening Relationships – Spend quality time with our partners, strengthening bonds of friendship and faith.
Dreaming & Growing Together – Collaborate to develop new ideas and opportunities for serving God in greater ways.
Every mission trip is a chance to uplift, empower, and walk alongside our brothers and sisters in faith!

So, why do we embark on these short-term mission trips?

We are commanded – Scripture calls us to go and make disciples. (Matthew 28:19-20)
We are compelled – These trips challenge us spiritually, culturally, and relationally, strengthening our faith. (James 1:2-4)
We are committed – We seek to uplift and encourage our partners in the field. (Romans 1:11-12)
We are compassionate – We share and demonstrate the hope we have in Christ. (Mark 12:29-31)

We go to be a blessing, and in doing so, we are incredibly blessed in return.

As you step into a new culture, keep these key points in mind:

Be aware – Your outgoing nature may be perceived differently. Seek guidance from your host.
Respect local ministry – Mission workers adapt to cultural norms to share Christ effectively. Avoid questioning their methods.
Stay positive – You’ll face unfamiliar situations. Embrace them with gratitude, joy, and love.
Learn greetings – A few local phrases go a long way in building connections.
Serve with humility – Avoid a savior mentality; be a learner and a servant.
Withhold judgment – Spiritual growth looks different for everyone.
Give wisely – Do not offer money or gifts without your host’s approval.
Respect time – Your hosts have responsibilities; they’re not personal guides.
Avoid sensitive topics – Refrain from discussing politics, military, or other religions.
Mind your words – Some phrases may be offensive; check with your host.
Embrace the experience – Cross-cultural ministry means stepping out of your comfort zone.
Honor the culture – Learn, respect, and represent Christ well in every

Cultural Awareness & Respect

When we step into another culture, we are the outsiders—the ones with different customs, perspectives, and ways of speaking. As guests, it’s our responsibility to show respect, understanding, and humility.

Passports: Plan Ahead!

If you’re traveling internationally, a passport is required. Apply as soon as possible to avoid delays.

How to Obtain a Passport:

Required Documents:

Certified birth certificate (not a hospital record)
Two passport photos
Driver’s license
Completed application form (available at the post office)

Processing & Costs:

Submit your application at a post office for processing with the U.S. Passport Agency.
Costs range from $75–$150, depending on processing time.
Standard processing time: 6–10 weeks (State agencies may take longer to issue birth certificates if needed).

Safety First

We prioritize your safety while serving internationally. Our decisions are based on official U.S. travel advisories, and every team member will be registered with the U.S. Embassy for the duration of the trip.

Important Travel Reminders

At Airports & Customs:

NEVER joke about bombs, weapons, or security threats.
Avoid wearing military fatigues, bags, or clothing.
Stay calm, quiet, and mature—this is a serious process.
Follow your leader’s instructions while passing through customs.

Stick Together

Always stay with the group. If you need a break, go in pairs and inform a leader.
When picking up luggage, stay in the same area and verify you have all your belongings.
Once everyone has their luggage, we will depart together.

By preparing in advance and following these guidelines, we ensure a smooth and safe travel experience for everyone!

Health & Safety Guidelines

Water Safety

Always ask your hosts before drinking water! If the water isn’t safe, do not:

Use it to brush your teeth
Consume ice in drinks

Preventing & Managing Illness

Diarrhea Prevention
Even minor changes in diet or environment can cause intestinal issues. We recommend packing:

Imodium A-D (Over-the-counter)
Parapectolin or Lomotil (Prescription – consult your doctor)
Vaccinations & Immunizations

We follow the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Visit CDC Travel Health for country-specific guidance.
Check with your physician for required shots & boosters.

First Aid & Medical Needs

Personal First-Aid Kit (Recommended items: band-aids, pain relievers, antiseptic wipes, motion sickness tablets, etc.)
Allergies – Bring your prescribed medication.
Medical Conditions – Ensure you have listed all current medications & conditions in your application. If there are any updates, notify the team immediately.

Travel Tips & Packing Guide

Helpful Packing Tips

Pack smart! Keep one change of clothes and toiletries in your carry-on.
Write down your Passport Number, expiration date, and place of issue.
- (Store this information separately from your passport!)
Keep travel liquids secure – Store shampoo, lotion, and other toiletries in zip lock bags.
Label your belongings – Especially towels, washcloths, and socks.
Bring a few photos of family & friends to share with new friends.
Pack snacks – Crackers or high-protein bars work great! (Store in zip lock bags to avoid attracting bugs!)
If you wear contact lenses, bring a backup pair of glasses and cleaning solution.

Last-Minute Reminders

Double Check your Passport!
Dress comfortably for the flight.
Pack a flashlight – And test the batteries!
Toilet paper – You might need it!
Bring a poncho or lightweight rain jacket.
Camera & extra batteries – Capture the memories!

Returning Home: What’s Next?

Coming home from your mission trip can feel overwhelming. You may have experienced God in powerful ways, been moved by the joy of those in need, and felt forever changed. You might even feel out of place—longing to return and serve more.

So, what can you do with this transformation?

Pray!

Pray that your passion for serving stays alive despite distractions.
Ask God to open doors if He is calling you to missions.
Pray for a heart that remains surrendered, faithful, and bold in serving Him.

Support!

Keep praying for the missionaries you served with—ask for God's protection and provision.
Encourage the people you met. Stay in touch if possible!
Pray for the country you visited—for nonbelievers to seek truth and for believers to shine God’s love

Communicate!

Share your story with your family, friends, and church.
Record a testimony for worship services.
Create a slideshow for a Mission Trip Rewind event.
Write about your experience in a church newsletter or local newspaper.

Praise!

Praise God for who He is!
Thank Him for the opportunity to serve and how He uses ordinary people to bring glory to His Kingdom!
